stoneman’s coffee. a coffee shop inspired by washington, dc’s bluegrass movement

Hillbilly music gained popularity in DC during the great depression (1930’s) as Southerners traveled to the area in search of economic opportunity. This music foreshadowed the emergence of Bluegrass in the 40’s when an influx of Southern-born servicemen during WWII helped cement Bluegrass music’s presence in DC.
